Operation Comfort

You will either cringe or smile when you read this next sentence. In case you haven't noticed, the holidays are right around the corner. I noticed this on a recent shopping trip to Macy's this weekend. The Christmas decoration section is definitely up and running.

So, what is the first thing that comes to mind? Oh no! Wait, What? or I can't wait! Or are you in spiritually giving state of mind?

As I sat in mass this morning, I started to think about what I can do to help my parish's Social Services center during these upcoming months. A toy drive? A food drive? A coat drive? Or just giving a little extra and volunteering.

I am going to be honest, I am not the best at volunteering. But, during today's homily, Fr. Mike reminded us of how our parish is a patchwork community. There are so many wonderful people in our parish that aren't as fortunate as others. And I know that something like a brand new pair of socks or a warm coat during the winter can mean the world to someone who lives on the street or paycheck to paycheck. I always think about the necessities that we might take for granted every day.

I know I can't change the world this holiday season, but hopefully I can bring a smile to someone's face and remind them that someone does care.

I will keep you all up to date on "Operation Comfort." If anyone can help Blessed Sacrament Social Services please go here.

Call your parish rectory office to see how you can help. Start your own "Operation Comfort" and see what you can do in your parish community.

"May God cure our blindness so that we may see the beauty in all God’s people."-Fr. Mike

Love & Blessings,

Monique

What a great idea. I think service is so important and it is such a wonderful feeling to help someone else. It makes your own troubles seem so much less important.
