Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving
is tomorrow! Are you Catholic Chicks ready?

I'm baking a ham for my hubby's work right now and I am reminded of how much I love this holiday. If not for the food (as the smell of delicious ham floats through my home), but for the many memories that come a long with it.

I do get a little sad remembering my friends and loved ones that are no longer with us, but I know they have a Thanksgiving celebration beyond anything I can imagine in heaven.

And I know it's very cliche to ask, but what are you most thankful for? Not just for the season, but let's extend it to this past year. What has happened in 2009 that has made you realize what is truly special about your life.

I am so thankful for the love and support my husband, family, and friends have shown me over the past year, my parish Blessed Sacrament and the role it has played in my life, for all the Catholic Chicks out there that support this blog, and of course my Catholic faith. Because without all of these, my life would be sad and lonely.

This Thanksgiving don't just share your love with your family, share it with those in your community. Donate canned food to a local food bank or homeless shelter. Or maybe you can invite a "lost" friend or family member over for dinner. Do something out of the ordinary that will inspire another person to do the same. It's up to you. God's work is never done.

We Give Thanks

Our Father in Heaven,
We give thanks for the pleasure
Of gathering together for this occasion.
We give thanks for this food
Prepared by loving hands.
We give thanks for life,
The freedom to enjoy it all
And all other blessings.
As we partake of this food,
We pray for health and strength
To carry on and try to live as You would have us.
This we ask in the name of Christ,
Our Heavenly Father.

During the Thanksgiving holiday, the #1 question is asked. So, what is the first thing that pops into your head?
What are you most thankful for?
