How does God speak to you?

Did you hear that? Are you even listening?

I have always lived by the motto that everything in life happens for a reason. Whatever that reason may be, God has a plan for us. So, when God speaks, we must listen.

Now, I'm not saying you are going to hear the thunderous voice of God every moment of every day. When I imagine God speaking to me, I see it as signs in my life or that little voice in the back of my head. The actions that I can't explain. The unexpected detours in life. That one song I can't get out of my head.

It's like the many times, when we have our hearts set on something and all of a sudden, it doesn't happen. For whatever reason, the thing you wanted so much...is now a distant memory.

There have been many times in my life that God has spoken to me. Sometimes, I wasn't paying attention and the result was not good. But, then there are those instances when I am so glad my ears and heart were open. Like the many times, I am walking out the door and inside my head I hear "Go back inside...you forgot something." Frustrated, I am now delayed five minutes, I drive up on an accident that only occurred minutes before. First thing I say is "Thank you God!"

I honestly believe that if you don't have your heart open to God, you won't be able to hear Him. I know this from experience. You'll miss out on the joys, happiness, and love that He has planned for you. This is what makes me so sad to know that the family and friends I dearly love are missing out on.

Every night I pray for them. I pray that they will have a relationship with God.

"Show us, LORD, your love; grant us your salvation.
I will listen for the word of God; surely the LORD will proclaim peace To his people, to the faithful, to those who trust in him." Psalm 85: 8-9
