My Best Friend

This past weekend my best friend flew out from Maine to spend a few days here in L.A. I say best friend but, she is more like a sister to me. She is honest, giving, funny, smart, and has a beautiful heart.

I have known her since 1996, we bonded while we were both in basic training for the Air Force. It turned out we both wanted to serve as the Catholic Chapel Guide for mass on Sundays.

Every Sunday, we sat next to each other in mass. Sharing and praying together. I have always believed that our Catholic faith brought us together. We have so many things in common, it's not even funny.

We have been through a lot together, all the while being on opposite coasts. It's funny how a friendship can last that long and that far away. We both take time to see each other, no matter what. It's a little hard to say good bye to her, but I know we will meet up again soon.

I thank God for her. He has brought me the sister I never had. It's so amazing how God works to bring certain people into our lives. For good or for bad, there is a reason for every person that has crossed our paths.

I believe it's up to us to keep the positive connections and let the negative ones pass us by. In my past I have let the negative ones go and I make sure to keep those who are special. I hope you have a special someone in your life like I do. Here's a little prayer for your best friend:

Guardian Angel,
watch over those whose names you can read in my heart.
Guard over them with every care
and make their way easy and their labours fruitful.
Dry their tears if they weep;
sanctify their joys;
raise their courage if they weaken;
restore their hope if they lose heart,
their health if they be ill,
truth if they err,
repentance if they fail.

Love & Blessings,

Monique
